ΟΚ, let’s see a screenshot of Android 2.1 by HTC (phone is called HTC Incredible, for Incredibly Stupid):
- On the right hand corner we see the time. Fare enough.
- Next to it is the battery life. I think the battery is more important than the time of day… Anyway…
- Next to that there is the signal strength. Again Signal Strength is really important and I think it should be on a corner. Just like iPhone. Two really important stuff, like battery life and signal strength jammed together is NOT wise.
- Surprisingly, next to that there is another icon… I don’t know what that is or don’t care.
- Now, on the left hand corner there are 5 other icons! So on a 200x20 pixels bar we have 9 total information icons…. That would be called “the exact opposite of ergonomics” at Mercedes Benz.
- Below that we can see again the time! A huge digital clock, that has the weather on it’s bottom… I think they call these gadgets or distractions…
- Below this there is a grid of 8 icons.
- The first one has a globe icon that is showing the wrong part of he globe. It is focused on bora-bora islands on the Pacific Ocean! How weird and epicly stupid is that?!
- Next to that I can see a messaging application that has a surprisingly small icon.
- Some other icons are following with the Push Notifications being light-green in color and the text is leaving the borders of the notification bubble. That is great!
- Finally, on the bottom of the screen we can see three large buttons.
- The phone in the middle, which is the first OK thing.
- On the right there is a plus sign that obviously adds more gadgets to the already packed screen.
- On the left there is a small arrow that obviously hides a pop up/slide menu that must have even more icons and menus in it…
- Now on top of all those, imagine a moving background… Someone needs to get fired over this. Unacceptable.
(Mess. A big, ugly mess. That is the word. Android 2.1 by HTC is a mess.
Who cares…)
